Signs You've Got a Cult

Cults tend to have problems separating out things that don't matter but which make great demarkers of social difference from things that do matter but don't demark well.

For instance, a cult might come to believe knowing the one true name of god is so important they'll do almost anything to get you to say or confess it. There's good adaptive reasoning for this. Quasi-factual beliefs like these aren't meant to convey an actual sense of the world, they're meant to make it really obvious who's on the in and who's on the out.
